Toy Recalls Reduce Risk of Health Hazard

This gift-giving holiday take heed to recent reports of lead in toys. This well known health hazard is closely monitored by the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). Toys that potentially put children at risk for such exposure include antique toys and collectibles as well as those toys imported from other countries. To reduce these risks, the CPSC issues recalls of toys that could potentially expose children to lead.
Clean Hands For A Clean Bill of Health

Armor yourself against the cold and flu season with proper hand hygiene. Hand washing is the most important weapon when battling the spread of infectious and food-borne illnesses. The components of good hand washing include using an adequate amount of soap, rubbing the hands together to create some friction, and rinsing under running water. When soap and water are not readily available consider using an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
Festive Beverages Lighten Up

Discover the low fat versions of your favorite holiday beverages this year. Instead of classic Eggnog, which can pack up to 340 calories and 19 grams of fat, try Holiday Nog with half the calories and 90 percent less fat. A healthier Hot Cocoa can be made just as rich as the original with a slight change in ingredients. Even alcoholic beverages can be made with a healthier heart in mind. Try a Wine Spritzer rather than a full glass of wine, club soda as a mixer, and remember to drink a glass of water in between each alcoholic beverage to reduce caloric intake.
