In 1930, it was determined that one in 5,000 Americans was likely to develop melanoma during their lifetime. At present, an astounding one in 65 Americans are likely to develop melanoma. The American Academy of Dermatology reports that approximately one person dies from melanoma every hour and more than one million nonmelanoma skin cancers are diagnosed each year.

Fast Food the Healthy Way

According to a recent study presented at the American Stroke Association’s International Stroke Conference, people who live in neighborhoods with fast-food restaurants are more likely to suffer strokes. The study, conducted by the University of Michigan, focused on residents of one Texas county who lived in neighborhoods with the highest number of fast-food restaurants. These individuals had a 13 percent higher risk of experiencing a stroke than those in neighborhoods with the fewest such restaurants.
